I am married and have 3 daughters. I am a Girl Sout Leader, a volunteer for Chemo Angels, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society (Relay for Life team captain and member of planning committee).

I lost both my parents to cancer. My Mom had a rare type of cancer (Ocular Melanoma) and had to travel out of state for treatments. She passed away at age 52. I was one of her main caregivers.

After my Mom passed away, my Dad and step-Dad both found out they had cancer. My Dad's was a bone cancer from angent orange exposure in Viet Nam. He passed away at age 59. I was my Dad's main caregiver. My step-Dad is still fighting bladder cancer and recently went into remission. I drive him to his appointments when he needs a driver. He's been very independant for the most part so far.

I trade stocks part time online when I am not too busy taking care of everyone else. I enjoy crafts, searching the web, writing, reading, the outdoors, and hiking. I am a Sunday school teacher, a volunteer for our church Bazaar, a member of the Woman's Association, and write articals for the church newsletter.

My children have been growing up with a great sense of compassion for others. This happens when you learn so many of life's hard lessons at such a young age. They have learned about death and dying. They helped care for their grandparents and found ways to cheer them up when they were having bad days. They volunteer their time also in helping others cope with cancer and raising money for the American Cancer Society. It's fun to be able to work together with them on something that is such a great service to others. It helps a great deal to know what others need when you have lived through similar experiences yourself.

I am an author of a christian children's book which will be released before Christmas this year. It's a rhyming story of a boy who pretends to be sick so he doesn't have to go to school.
