How do you keep yourself busy?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 22, 2008:
Busy, that might be my middle name I think. I'm a Girl Scout leader, I'm our Girl Scout Service Unit's Public relations volunteer, I'm a Relay For Life team captain, on the Relay For Life Planning committee, the Relay For Life recruitment chair person, a volunteer for Chemo Angels, coeditor of our church newsletter, the bazaar helpers committee, the Women's Association, and a Sunday School teacher. I make my own greeting cards, read, surf the net, and answer emails.
Then, there's my kids. I drive them to friend's houses, NJHS, softball games, band, junior choir, youth choir, bell choir, Christmas plays, chorus concerts, school fund raisers, selling Girl Scout cookies, craft projects, home work projects, hiking, camping, soccer, swimming, doctor's appointments, orthodontist, eye appointments, playing at the park, Vacation Bible School, and so much more.
I drive my step-Dad to doctor appointments, help my Aunt, and the list is just too long to keep going.

Help

I'm sure you never run out of things to do!!
I'd love to see pictures of some of your handmade greeting cards sometime. :)
Hello. I have a better idea. I'll mail you some since I have your address for the poat card exchange. You could use them for your angeling if you'd like. Quite a few of them I make with angeling in mind and a few are even what I call “Cancer” cards. I make lots of extras all the time. I donate them to our church bazaar and sell them for Relay For Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Just ignore the prices in the packages. They are because they were on display at the balloon festival when we passed out info for the Relay and for the American Cancer Society.
I haven't mailed my post cards yet. They'll be going out tomorrow and I'll mail the cards to you at the same time, but they might take a little longer to arrive. I thought I had them all ready to go ahead of of time, but when I was addressing them, I found I was one short, so had to wait until today to get a chance to make one more so I could mail them all together.
I buy most of my card making stuff from scrapbook supplies at the dollar tree and dollar general, so it doesn't cost much. Occasionally I spend more on fancier stickers at craft stores, but try not to make a habit of that cause it'll make you go broke. The plastic sleeves for dispaly and the card stock with mathcing envelopes, I buy on ebay and get that quite cheap, too. It took me a while to get started when I first began to stock up on supplies, but now I have a three drawer storage bin filled and overflowing with supplies. It's easy now to just pull out supplies whenever needed and not have to run to the store.
Sometimes I write my own sayings inside. Sometimes I use sayings from the quote garden (a web site with thousands of quotes all catagorized according to topic), and sometimes I just leave them blank inside to write a letter. I have a lot of fun with it. Once your supplies are stocked up, it actually saves you a lot of money because it is so much cheaper than buying cards.
I love using glitter gel pens in my cards. I get those at Dollar General, too. You have to be careful though because the ink takes time to dry and is easily smudged. You let the outside dry first, then you can open it to write on the inside. You then have to let the inside dry before closing the card. It's a little more time consuming, but I love the way the ink looks in the cards, so I keep using them. I have gone through at least 4 packages of them by now and am need of going to store to buy more again. Hopefully they don't stop selling those, because I'd be very disappointed if they did, lol.
Thank you! I would love that! Yes, I can definitely always use cards - especially now with the angeling!
I sent my postcards out on Tuesday. I'm a little nervous about them coming apart in the mail, but I'm hoping they're sturdy enough to make the journey. :)
You're right - you can definitely go broke with all the doo-dads available at craft stores! I have to restrain myself when I'm in them because there's so much neat stuff. You know those sheets of decorative paper you can use for scrapbooking, card-making, etc? I love to look through those. They're usually only 20 cents a piece, but still - I have sooo much paper. Time to start using it up!
You're welcome. I'm worried about that, too. Some of mine were more fragile than others depending on which types of scrap booking stickers I used (each one was different). I have no idea if the glue I use or the gel pens are weather proof. They are handled quite a bit in the mail and a few of them have to travel all the way to other countries. I have never made post cards before, just greeting cards. Let me know what kind of shape your card is in when it arrives, lol, then I'll know.
