What area of your life could use healing right now?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 19, 2008:
My home. It's old and falling apart. My husband likes to fix things himself, but he takes forever to get around to the things that need fixing. He doesn't like it if I ask anyone else to fix anything though. The house is 38 years old and still has most all the original things in it...carpet, ugly outdated wall paper, etc.

Help

That sounds frustrating. Relationship is hard. Living in a crappy space can be depressing.
Blessings,
Joshua
be thankful for all the crappy stuff – in the end those things don't matter anyway.
It is depressing at times. Like when he waited until the house flooded before fixing a plumbing problem. My four year old ran outside to play right after flushing. We were all outside and it was almost three hours later before we came inside and found water gushing all over the bathroom. It makes so much more work in the end to get the job accomplished when you wait too long. Had to clean the bathroom and had to rewash laundry. Had to travel to the Laundromat to wash the piles of wet clothes because our washer and dryer were under the bathroom in the basement and you couldn't run them with all that water down there. I am still grateful for having a house though, even an old one that's falling apart is much better than no home at all. It's warm and dry and that's what matters the most. I'm also grateful that the house is the worst area of my life that needs fixing right now. It's better than a broken heart, a lost mind, or an empty spirit. So many things to be grateful for…thanks.
